Emma McLachlan Five Day Beginner Course

Ian Kenny Framing played host to Ayrshire artist, Emma McLachlan as she took the first step on her picture framing journey. Emma spent five days learning from Ian in Hamilton & Larkhall, where she went from novice to laying the foundation of starting her own business. At the end of the intensive five day course she framed one of her own pieces of artwork from start to finish (see the photo below).

Here is what Emma had to say about the experience and what she is planning to do going forward:

“What a week! I’ve been wanting to professionally frame my art for a while now. After some searching I came across Ian Kenny Framing – Hamilton & Larkhall who is one of the best in the business so I decided to take the 5 day course. I have learnt so much about different aspects of framing and the advice I received was second to none. I can now professionally frame my art using the correct materials, techniques and machinery.”

“With practice and study I will be looking to sit my Guild Certified Framers exam. One step closer to my gallery and framing business!”

There is more to being a professional picture framer than just the mechanics as Emma learned throughout the five days. She took advantage of Ian’s over 30 years experience in the industry, learning how to build her business from day one. This included sourcing equipment and materials from suppliers, pricing strategy and effective sales techniques.

We would like to wish Emma the best of  luck in starting her business and look forward to catching up with her once she is ready to take her Guild Certified Framer examination.
