Meet David from Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway in South West Scotland. He recently retired from working with the widely respected Halo Trust which for over 30 years has been saving lives and helping war-torn communities recover, by making their land safe via landmine removal and disposal. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Halo Trust, David was looking for a new challenge and a change of pace from all of the travel and decided that a complete change to picture framing was something that he would like to pursue.
Being completely new to the trade, David was looking to build a strong foundation in framing and decided to invest in PFT’s Vijfdaagse Basiscursus which covers all he needed to confidently start framing on his own. Prior to attending David had bought a Logan mountcutter which he was practicing with, but wasn’t getting the finish he was looking for. After happily cutting mounts and v-grooves on the training centre’s Keencut Ultimat Futura, David decided it was time for an upgrade.
As always, the course provided comprehensive coverage of all the essential areas for establishing a successful framing business. Topics included pricing strategies, framing and mountboard standards, and best practices for handling a wide range of media types—including fabric and 3D objects.

David enjoyed his time on the course and commented that he had learned a great deal. Following advice which was given based on his business plan and model, David ordered new machinery and supplies from the supplier best suited to his needs. He’s now working to build his skills further and is looking forward to launching his business in the near future.
